There are 3 premises that must be established if we are to really fix the economic mess our leaders and our voters have gotten us all into.
1. Government is NOT your mother
2. We are broke
3. Good people YOU KNOW will suffer if we're going to fix this.
We know that even Pulitzer prize winning PHd professors at Princeton will oppose all 3 of these, we must concentrate on "sane" people and those willing to THINK and pretty much ignore the "takers" who don't want anything to change. They would just as soon see the country STOP existing before they would agree to a reduction in their tax funded benefits.

Should government be mandating their brand and volume of compassion and care at the point of a gun? Or should individuals and charities be in charge of voluntarily (and with a lot more oversight) distributing care and compassion because they really care...not because they are buying votes with someone else's money. Herein lies the big divide for which there is no negotiation. Western European socialism (cool to liberals but just check your newspaper to see how it's working) or free market capitalism which built America.
